Laputa, Balnibarbi, Luggnagg Glubbdubdrib, and Japan
I am not exactly sure how any of this relates back to the United States as a satire. The only thing I may be able to think of, and it's not one-hundred percent exactly sure, is Gulliver's wandering around and no one understands how to speak to him. I'm just going to relate this back to the United States as the country gets involved in an international scale and half the things that we get involved in we really do not know exactly what we're doing.
Another thing that may be resulted back to the United States, and I'm not saying all of this in order to criticize the country either, is that Laputa uses its floating ability in order to suppress, or destroy any resistance. America, in some ways worse than others, uses force in order to suppress any kind of rebellion or resistance. Though war is supposed to be a last resort, it seems that now Americans try diplomacy and after one failed attempt immediately switch to a war-type of response to resistance. This can be seen with the problems in the Middle East and North Korea. The U.S. government sent military personnel to South Korea to practice military drills without speaking to North Korea. In fact, the U.S. government refuses to have any type of contact with North Korea.
Laputa is the only time I can really make any connections from Gulliver's Travels to the U.S. in Part III.
